Navarre Beach Vacation – Get Away To An Island Paradise

If your idea of paradise includes sugar-white sand beaches and crystal-clear emerald green waters, then make your next getaway to Navarre Beach, Florida.
More secluded than some Florida vacation destinations, Navarre Beach provides a relaxing and family-friendly atmosphere. It is perhaps best known as the main location for the filming of the movie Jaws, and offers a wide variety of popular vacation activities and attractions.
SUMPTUOUS WHITE SAND DUNES AND BEACHES
Navarre Beach is located on one of Florida’s treasured barrier islands, Santa Rosa Island, in the Northwest part of the state. Among the main tourist attractions are the breathtaking white sand dunes. Visitors can once again enjoy them while driving on the seven-mile scenic J. Earle Bowden Way along the Gulf Islands National Seashore between Navarre Beach and Pensacola Beach.
The drive is a gateway to many of the area’s natural beauty spots that mesmerize tourists from near and far who quickly discover its charm and beauty. First on the list – the beaches and waters that invite you to relax, play or explore.
THE GULF ISLANDS NATIONAL SEASHORE
A haven for nature lovers, the Gulf Islands National Seashore consists of eight miles of federally protected, undeveloped shoreline that make up the longest continuous stretch of protected beach in the Florida panhandle.
Activities at the top of the list for a Navarre Beach vacation include heading to the warm, emerald-green Gulf waters to swim, snorkel, scuba dive, parasail, windsurf, or ski. You can easily rent boogie boards, surf boards, jet skis, kayaks, or paddleboats on the island, and sign up for lessons if needed. The area is also a popular spot for boating and fishing, and offers easy access to charter boats and equipment.
If you prefer to play on land, you can hike or bike along the many nature trails in the area, including the section of the 1300-mile Florida National Scenic Trail that ends in Navarre Beach. If you’re pressed for time rent a scooter instead and soak up as much of the area’s natural beauty as you can.
PANHANDLE BUTTERFLY HOUSE
Another popular Navarre Beach attraction you’re not to miss is the Panhandle Butterfly House. It’s a favorite with families and you can spend hours captivated by the numerous species of butterflies, flowers and plants.
It’s also near to Navarre Park, which provides plenty of picnic space and a huge playground for kids. There’s also a nature boardwalk that winds along the Santa Rosa Sound, a perfect spot to end your day watching one of the areas spectacular sunsets.
GULF BREEZE ZOO
Just a 10-minute drive from Navarre Beach is the Gulf Breeze Zoo. It’s home to over 1,200 animals including ostriches, water buffalo, wildebeest, and zebras. Hop on the train that takes passengers through 30 acres of free-ranging wildlife to cap off your visit.
PLANNING YOUR NAVARRE BEACH VACATION
The area enjoys warm weather, activities and festivals year-round, but spring and summer are the high seasons. With the reopening of J. Earle Bowden Way, there will be even more visitors so make sure you book early to secure your accommodations and tickets to local attractions.
